The Kratky Method: Hydroponics Made Simple

These basket pots are an excellent choice for the Kratky Method, which is widely considered the easiest entry point into hydroponics.

In a Kratky setup, the basket pot is placed in the lid of a container filled with nutrient-rich water. As the plant grows, the water level drops, leaving an air gap where the plant develops "oxygen roots." Meanwhile, the lower roots continue to reach down into the remaining solution. Since this method requires no pumps or electricity, these pots are all you need to get a passive system up and running.
